Story

Fio has no voice and no memory or understanding of the world in which she exists. Fortunately, a strange creature named Mama came to help. In order to retrieve the fragments of memories that are scattered everywhere in “The Cage”, Fio and Mama set off on their adventure together. Unique gameplay

As we mentioned, NieR Re[in]carnation has a unique gameplay compared to the rest of the series. The developer did not rely on successful gameplay elements of NieR: Automata to develop Re[in]carnation because of the huge difference in platforms and environments. Re[in]carnation’s gameplay turns to a new direction that seems lighter and more interesting.

You control the main character, Fio, to adventure through the different lands of The Cage. The environment changes based on the areas you set foot in. They flexibly switch between 2D and 3D. You can notice the gameplay of the game is divided into 3 main categories: Explore the 3D environment, learn the story missions and fight.

It’s basically like a JRPG game. You must assemble a team with 3 members to fight in the environment. Battles can be done manually or automatically if you like. Your team and your opponent line up in parallel on the screen. The characters use weapons and skills to attack opponents. You can control your characters to activate skills at the appropriate time.

The core of the games is to develop the characters of your team. There are hundreds of different areas in the game. They bring challenges with increasing levels. Your characters must be enhanced with stats and weapons to be strong enough when fighting enemies.

Unlock iconic characters

If you used to love 2B and 9S in NieR Automata, you will have a chance to meet them again in this game. Besides the main character Fio, NieR Re[in]carnation has about 20 other names such as Gayle, A2, Rion, Lars, Argo, etc. Each character is characterized by stats and skills.

Note that there are some special characters like 2B and 9S that cannot be unlocked in the normal way. They are event characters so they are only available for a limited time. Each character has high compatibility with a unique weapon. When the character uses a compatible weapon, it can increase the power and skill to the maximum. Characters can also use incompatible weapons, but it usually doesn’t work well in battle.

Companion is a trusted friend in battle. Each Companion is equipped with two unique skills that can be quickly activated once in battle. Companion creates effects and spells that increase your chances of winning.

Arena

Besides the story mode, players can participate in the Arena system, also known as the PVP mode. This is a separate mode for players with an Internet connection. In the arena, you can use your team to fight other players’ teams. Winning PvP matches offers upgrade rewards and experience points.
